COURSE GNM:

DURATION OF COURSE GNM:

1. The Diploma of General Nursing Midwifery (GNM) is a 3 (three) years full time Boarding Course, Including internship of 6 (six) months/ 26 weeks.

2. There will be a probational period of three months / 13 weeks, during the period the students will be introduced to basic science like -Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

3. An examination will be held at the end of three months to asses the students ability to enter the professional nursing course .Successful students will be introduced to the Professional Nursing
Course.

TRAINING PROGRAMME GNM:

Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)

Duration of the course:

The Diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) shall be of three years duration.

There should be a preliminary period of 12 weeks. During this time the student will attend the wards for observation and supervised practice not exceeding 16 hours per week.

Year-Wise distribution of weeks, days and hours of the course

Maximum hours per week per student shall be 36 to 40 including class room instructions and clinical field practice.

Ist Year 46 Weeks 1656 hours
IInd Year 46 Weeks 1656 hours
IIIrd Year 46 Weeks 1656 hours

Note: Out of 52 weeks in one academic year, total of 6 weeks are deducted. 4 weeks vacation, one week preparatory leave and one week for examinations. Sundays and gazetted holidays are to be considered as holidays.

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS IN THE CLINICAL AREAS

The students posted in the clinical areas should be accompanied by teaching faculty of the school.

The same practice must followed when students are posted for requisite clinical experience to sffiliated Hospital/ Agency/ Institution.

The Nursing service personal must actively participate in supervising, guiding and examinating students in the hospital wards, health centers and in the community.

NOTE:

1. Student of first year shall be posted in general Medical, Surgical ward for developing skills in basic nursing experience and it shall not be applicable for developing specialized skills in these areas.

2. Community Health experience in 2nd year (2 Weeks). Community Health Nursing experience has been prescribed for 2 Year in order to give desired learning Experience and to keep continuity. The concepts of Medical surgical and psychiatric nursing can also be applied to Community Health Nursing Experience.

3. No night duty experience in the first year. Only 8 weeks of night duty experience is to be given throughout the training period.

4. The extra hours which have not been accounted for in this syllabus can be planned and utilized by individual Schools as per their need.

1. The Diploma of Auxilliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) is a 2 (two) years full time Boarding Course, Including internship of 6 (six) months/ 26 weeks.

2. There will be a probational period of three months / 13 weeks, during the period the students will be introduced to basic science like -Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

3. An examination will be held at the end of three months to asses the students ability to enter the professional nursing course .Successful students will be introduced to the Professional Nursing
Course.

DISTRIBUTION OF TIME PERIOD (ANM):

First Year:

1. Total I Weeks = 52 Weeks
2. Vacation = 04 Weeks
3. Gazetted Holidays and Examination = 03 Weeks
4. Preparation Holidays and Examination = 03 Weeks
5. Teaching Hours in Year = 43 Weeks
6. Teaching Hours per Year = 43 Weeks x 40 Hours/Week = 1720 Hours

Second Year ( Including Internship ):

1. Total Weeks = 52 Weeks
2. Vacation = 04 Weeks
3. Gazetted Holidays and Examination = 02 Weeks
4. Preparation Holidays and Examination = 02 Weeks
5. Teaching Hours in year = 44 Weeks
6. Teaching Hours per Year = 44 Weeks x 40 Hours/Week = 1760 Hours
